Story of Panko’s Pastries
Hi, I’m Laura “Panko,” a family nickname that’s been with us for decades and inspired the name Panko’s Pastries. Based in Timmins, Ontario, this home bakery is a dream that’s been rising in the oven for years, long before I ever made it official.
Baking has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in a family of strong, creative women who passed down their love of food through every meal. Weekends meant flipping through cookbooks with my mom and sisters, heading to the grocery store with a list in hand, and working together in the kitchen to create full meals, always ending with dessert, of course. My 91-year-old grandmother still makes sweets for every family dinner, and my Baba was famous for her handmade perogies and cabbage rolls. That mix of tradition, love, and a touch of entrepreneurial flair is what inspires everything I do.
Outside of the kitchen, I’ve spent over 20 years in the hospitality world, working in revenue management for some of the top hotel and resort brands across Canada and the Caribbean. It’s given me a strong foundation in customer service, business strategy, and creating memorable experiences, skills that I’m now pouring into every order at Panko’s Pastries.
This bakery started as a passion project, and my goal is to grow it into a full-time business one day that not only delivers delicious, handcrafted sweets but also celebrates the warmth and connection that come from sharing food made with love.
Thanks for being here, I can’t wait to bake for you!
